Jeff Shannon, LMFT
Jeff recently retired from a 14-year law enforcement career. He worked for both the Berkeley Police Department and the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Department. He obtained his Master Instructor Course Certificate (MICC) from the California Commission on Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) in 2016. A veteran law enforcement instructor, Jeff teaches Emotional Wellness for Law Enforcement as part of the Alameda County Crisis Intervention Training Program. He has taught courses in crisis de-escalation, wellness and resiliency, threat assessment and suicide prevention to various police, sheriff and probation departments.
Jeff is a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist with a private psychotherapy practice specializing in treating first responders, and a contributing columnist for Calibre Press. He is a nationally recognized expert in the area of police mental health.
