Suicide Prevention
This highly interactive class is designed to increase participant’s knowledge and skills to evaluate, and intervene with actively or potentially suicidal persons. The course focuses on increasing awareness of psychiatric illnesses and various psychological dynamics such as risk & protective factors for suicide. Suicide prevention, crisis intervention, and de-escalation techniques are all covered.
In addition, an overview of Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM), cumulative and single incident traumatic stress, and useful national and local resources will be offered. Issues of confidentiality, privilege, and liability with regard to managing suicidal persons will also be covered. (STC Certified)
