Joseph Cristando serves as the president of Cristando House, Inc. Since joining the firm in 2003, his duties have included management, supervisory and leadership development, facilitation of team building and strategic planning interventions and the completion of management/organizational reviews. He has provided consulting, training and facilitation services to municipal police departments, sheriff’s departments, university police departments and district attorney’s offices in California and Nevada. In addition to the delivery of client services, he is also responsible for the management and marketing of the firm. Over the last five years, much of Joseph’s time has been spent identifying emerging best practices in law enforcement management and integrating these findings into the training and consulting the firm does through California and Nevada POST. This original research has led to substantial organizational change and improvement in dozens of municipal police departments. Prior to joining the firm, he worked as the marketing director and production manager for Arc Fresno where he was responsible for a multi-million dollar budget, 10 supervisors and a workforce of over 100 disabled adults. He also worked for the American Red Cross where he served as a liaison between that organization and police and fire personnel during disasters. Previously, Joseph worked for the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s office where he was instrumental in the development of a comprehensive training program for gang experts. He also served as a special assistant to a Councilmember in the City of Fresno and as assistant campaign director for a mayoral campaign in a large California city. He completed an executive program in business management from Pepperdine University and earned his BA degree in Organizational Communication from California State University, Fresno. Joseph is also a pro bono consultant with the Taproot Foundation. His most recent project was a competitive and collaborative analysis and benchmarking study for a national educational nonprofit organization. He and his wife reside in San Francisco, CA.
